Dongguan Telecommunication Building

In order to create a truly public realm building the podium has been raised to allow visual links between the important landscape elements of Front Yard, Court Yard and Back Yard. The lobby and all public elements are accessed form and around the raised podium.

The central core expressed along the entire length of the site became the datum that separated the public zones from the highly sensitive zones. Along either side of this core the administration tower is expressed. It is placed at the northern most edge of the site to allow views through the urban vistas. Its fenestration reflects the environmental site conditions but also its internal program.

Specific consideration was given to green building ideas such as using the naturally high groundwater table to create a water fall which also serves effectively for cooling the production area. We introduced natural ventilation into the office tower by creating a “stack effect” terminating at the top of the tower with the corporate logo.
